Stick Season 2 Premieres on Apple TV with New Cast Members
The golf comedy returns with Owen Wilson reprising his role as Pryce Cahill alongside several new additions to the ensemble.
The second season of the Apple TV sports comedy series Stick premiered on November 4, continuing the story of former professional golfer Pryce Cahill. Played by Owen Wilson, the character finds himself navigating a new chapter of his career while his protégé, Santi Wheeler, portrayed by Peter Dager, advances in his own professional journey.
In the new episodes, Pryce explores the possibility of a career resurgence, setting his sights on winning the U.S. Open at age 55. His efforts are supported by his longtime friend and former caddie, Mitts, played by Marc Maron, and his former rival, Clark Ross, played by Timothy Olyphant. The narrative continues to balance the lighthearted nature of the sport with deeper explorations of regret and the complexities of mentorship.
A significant addition to the cast this season is Rhea Seehorn, who joins the show as Coach Amanda. Described by the production team as a "swing doctor" and a spiritual guide for Pryce, Amanda shares a complicated romantic history with the protagonist. Seehorn, known for her work on Better Call Saul and Pluribus, noted that she enjoyed portraying the character's blend of tough love and vulnerability, which stems from her past relationship with Pryce.
The show has expanded its roster with several other notable actors. John Higgins, a former Saturday Night Live cast member, appears in a recurring role as sports agent Jeremy Pierce. He is joined by Billy Zane, who plays Jeremy's boss. Additionally, Rex Linn has been cast as Butch Lydecker, who serves as both Pryce’s former golf coach and Amanda’s father.
Further rounding out the new cast are Sasha Alexander, who portrays a character focused on sports psychology, and Missi Pyle, whose specific role details remain under wraps. These new characters join the established ensemble, which includes Mariana Treviño as Elena, Santi’s mother, and Lilli Kay as Zero, Santi’s caddie and social media expert.
The series, created by showrunner Jason Keller, continues to be characterized by its mix of humor and emotional depth. As the characters face new professional and personal challenges, the show maintains its focus on the bonds formed within the golfing community. With the return of the core cast and the introduction of new dynamics, the second season aims to further explore the themes of second chances and the pursuit of long-held ambitions.
