Stellantis has officially introduced its new Smart Compact Van, a commercial vehicle designed to meet the specific needs of professionals who spend significant time on the road. The van is currently being produced at the company's industrial facility in Mangualde, Portugal, and is beginning an international tour across European markets.

The vehicle stands out for its versatility, as it is marketed under four distinct brands within the Stellantis group. Customers can choose from the Citroën Berlingo Van First, Fiat Professional Doblò EasyPro, Opel Combo Start, or the Peugeot Partner Active. Despite the different branding, all versions share the same platform and production origin.

The design of the van is based on the observation that many commercial vehicle operators travel alone and do not require a three-seat configuration. According to Stellantis, approximately 40% of its customers do not need the extra seating, and drivers are typically alone in the vehicle for about 90% of their travel time. Consequently, the interior has been reconfigured to maximize utility for the driver.

To enhance functionality, the van includes several modular features. The 'Flexiseat' allows the passenger seat to be folded down to increase cargo capacity, while the optional 'Modutable' provides a flat surface that can serve as a mobile office for laptops or paperwork. Additional storage solutions include the 'Moduconsole,' a removable central console, the 'Dashbox' integrated into the dashboard, and the 'Drivedrawer' located under the seat for storing tablets and documents.

In terms of performance, the van is available with both electric and diesel powertrains. The electric version features a 100 kW motor and a 42 kWh battery, offering an estimated range of up to 270 kilometers. For those preferring internal combustion, the company offers diesel engines with either 100 or 130 horsepower, both paired with manual transmissions. Stellantis has also announced plans to expand the lineup in 2027 with the introduction of a 48-volt hybrid powertrain.

The vehicle is available in two different lengths, providing a cargo volume ranging from 3.3 to 4.4 cubic meters and a maximum payload capacity of 650 kilograms. This configuration is intended to allow professionals to treat the vehicle as an extension of their workspace.

Pricing for the new model is competitive, with diesel versions starting at 16,900 euros and the fully electric variant starting at 17,658 euros, both excluding value-added tax. These promotional prices, which remain valid through the end of 2026, include a 10-inch multimedia screen and a rearview camera as standard equipment.
