Seahawks Defender Leonard Williams Suffers Stinger Against Bears

Seattle defensive lineman Leonard Williams left Monday's game against Chicago with a stinger and was listed as questionable to return.

Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Leonard Williams exited Monday night's matchup against the Chicago Bears during the third quarter after sustaining a stinger. Williams walked off the field under his own power without his helmet and headed directly into the injury tent for evaluation.

Prior to his departure, Williams had recorded three total tackles, including two solo stops. Head coach Mike Macdonald later confirmed the nature of the injury during his postgame press conference, noting that the veteran defender dealt with a stinger as the Seahawks fell behind.

The injury occurred at a challenging juncture for Seattle, which was already playing without fellow pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu and Brandon Pili. With Nwosu sidelined, the defensive coaching staff relied heavily on Williams to slide out to the edge and take on additional snaps on the outside.

Following Williams' exit, the Seahawks turned to players like Byron Murphy II, Jarran Reed, Mike Morris, and Rylie Mills to handle the load along the defensive line. The defense faced increased pressure as the Bears extended their lead during the second half on their way to securing a victory.

Williams has established himself as a cornerstone of the Seattle defense since arriving via trade in 2023, recently inking a three-year, $90 million contract extension. His absence leaves a significant void given his elite pass-rushing skills and stout run defense.

The timing of the injury adds further concern as the Seahawks face a short week of preparation ahead of their next contest. Medical staff will continue to monitor Williams' recovery progress to determine his availability for upcoming matchups.
