San Antonio Spurs forward David Jones Garcia is officially cleared for action ahead of the team's preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. The 24-year-old player had been sidelined since undergoing surgery on his right ankle in February.

The procedure unfortunately cut short Jones Garcia's 2025-26 regular-season campaign with the Spurs, where he made 11 appearances and averaged 2.9 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 rebounds across 6.2 minutes per contest. Despite the limited playing time, the organization maintained confidence in his potential by tendering a two-way qualifying offer.

Jones Garcia subsequently agreed to re-sign with San Antonio on a two-way contract, securing his second season with the franchise for the 2026-27 campaign. While he has been given the green light to return to the court, much of his playing time is expected to come with the team's G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs.

The forward initially joined San Antonio on a two-way deal following an impressive performance in Las Vegas during the Summer League, where he earned All Summer League First-Team honors. During that standout summer stretch, he averaged 21.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting over 52 percent from both the field and beyond the arc.

Undrafted out of Memphis, Jones Garcia has spent time within multiple organizations, including brief stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Utah Jazz organization before finding a more permanent developmental home in San Antonio. His scoring capability and efficiency during summer and G League matchups previously turned heads across the league.

As he returns to full health, Jones Garcia looks to regain the momentum that initially earned him a roster spot with the Spurs. Although he faces a competitive path to consistent minutes in the main NBA rotation, his recovery marks a crucial step forward in his professional career.
