Rugby league developments continue to capture attention as young versatile back Will Brough secures a move to the Australian National Rugby League. The 20-year-old player, who is the son of Super League legend Danny Brough, departed the Leigh Leopards late in the 2026 season following a stint that included loan appearances with Halifax, Salford, and Goole.

Brough's management company, Nova Sports, confirmed via social media that the player has officially signed with the Gold Coast Titans starting in 2027. His management praised the significant commitment required to relocate from the United Kingdom to Australia to pursue this major developmental opportunity.

The Gold Coast Titans feature notable English connections within their organization. England full-back AJ Brimson currently plays his club rugby for the Titans, and England head coach Brian McDermott serves as an assistant coach for the Gold Coast squad.

In a separate piece of rugby history, the sport mourns the loss of former Wales and British Lions international Keri Jones, who passed away at the age of 81 following a period of ill health earlier in the year. Cardiff Rugby Football Club announced his passing, paying tribute to a distinguished athletic career that spanned both rugby union and rugby league.

Jones enjoyed a multifaceted athletic career that included representing Wales as a sprinter at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica, where he competed in the 100 yards, 220 yards, and sprint relay events. He earned five caps for Wales in rugby union, played for the Barbarians, and toured South Africa with the British Lions in 1968.

Later in 1968, Jones transitioned to rugby league by signing with Wigan. During his professional rugby league career, he earned two caps for Great Britain and participated in the 1970 Rugby League World Cup, which took place in England.

Cardiff RFC and Neath RFC both issued statements expressing deep condolences to Jones' wife, Andrea, and their two daughters, Lynne and Elen. Tributes from across the rugby community remember Jones as a talented wing and a dedicated participant in former players' associations during his retirement.
