Ruben Trumpelmann Stars in Nepal Premier League and International Duty
Namibian cricketer Ruben Trumpelmann delivers standout bowling performances for the Lumbini Lions in the Nepal Premier League and contributes to his national team's historic series victory.
Ruben Trumpelmann has been making significant waves in international and franchise cricket, delivering stellar bowling performances both in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) and on international duty for Namibia. The left-arm pacer continues to prove his value as a premier wicket-taker across multiple formats and competitions.
Playing for the Lumbini Lions in the Nepal Premier League, Trumpelmann put on a masterclass in bowling during a recent match against the Pokhara Avengers at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Trumpelmann spearheaded the bowling attack by capturing three wickets for just 16 runs in his four allotted overs.
His disciplined spell dismantled the Pokhara batting lineup, restricting them to a meager 97 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. The Lumbini Lions made light work of the small target, cruising to an eight-wicket victory in only 11.4 overs to maintain their undefeated streak in the tournament.
As the defending champions of the NPL, the Lumbini Lions retained Trumpelmann following his heroic Player of the Tournament campaign last season. His continued effectiveness on foreign pitches highlights the growing global demand for Associate nation talent in franchise leagues.
Beyond his domestic franchise success in Nepal, Trumpelmann also featured prominently for Namibia during their home series against Ireland. In the fifth and final ODI in Windhoek, he provided the crucial early breakthrough by dismissing Irish batsman Tim Tector in the second over, setting the tone for the match.
Namibia ultimately bowled Ireland out for a modest 129 runs, securing a five-wicket victory and clinching a historic 3-2 series triumph. This milestone marked Namibia's maiden bilateral series victory against a full-member cricket nation, underscoring the team's rapid development.
Earlier in the same series, Trumpelmann also saw action during the 4th ODI, where Namibia fell short against an Irish side inspired by Jai Moondra's six-wicket haul. Despite that setback, Trumpelmann's consistent ability to trouble batters with pace and movement has solidified his status as a cornerstone of Namibian cricket.
