Namibia Secures ODI Series Victory Against Ireland

Namibia delivered a strong performance on November 1, 2026, defeating Ireland by five wickets in the fifth and final One Day International (ODI) at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. With this victory, Namibia clinched the five-match series 3-2 in a dramatic decider.

After winning the toss, Ireland chose to bat first but struggled to build momentum against the Namibian bowling attack. The visiting side was bundled out for 129 runs in 33.1 overs. JJ Smit led the bowling attack for Namibia with an outstanding spell, finishing with figures of 4 for 20.

Chasing a modest target of 130 runs, Namibia encountered some late stumbles but ultimately reached the finish line comfortably. Zane Green sealed the victory in the 22nd over by hitting a massive six off Matthew Humphreys behind the mid-wicket fence. Green finished unbeaten, while JJ Smit earned the Player of the Match award for his stellar contribution with the ball.

Reflecting on the final moments, Green described the series-winning shot: "There it is! Zane Green seals the win for Namibia, who not only win this game by 5 wickets, but also clinch the ODI series 3-2 in the decider." The match concluded with Namibia reaching 131 for 5 in 21.2 overs.

The hard-fought series finale showcased competitive cricket from both sides throughout the tour. Despite a late fightback from the Irish bowlers—including key wickets from Gavin Hoey and Matthew Humphreys—Namibia's early dominance with the ball and steady batting secured their historic series triumph.
