Retailers Launch Early Holiday Savings and Black Friday Promotions
Major warehouse clubs and nationwide retailers have rolled out extensive holiday shopping schedules well ahead of schedule for 2026.
As the holiday season approaches, major retailers across the United States have initiated their promotional schedules, stretching seasonal savings across the entire month of November. Rather than concentrating discounts on a single calendar date, companies are utilizing staggered waves of markdowns to capture early consumer spending.
Costco released its complete Holiday Savings schedule for 2026, mapping out a multi-wave strategy that began prior to the conclusion of October. The retailer's schedule divides promotions into distinct phases, including a Pre-Pre-Thanksgiving Day Sale running through November 15, followed by a Pre-Thanksgiving Day Sale offering larger discounts through the end of the month.
According to the retailer's schedule, physical warehouses will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, leaving that day's deals exclusively available online. The official Black Friday event will then run from November 27 through November 30, with an online-only Cyber Monday sale concluding the month on November 30.
While early sales focus heavily on pantry staples, snacks, and household essentials designed to help shoppers stock up before hosting holiday gatherings, patience is being rewarded for major purchases. Steep markdowns on high-ticket items, such as gaming computers, kitchen appliances, and 4K televisions, are being held back for the official Black Friday window.
Rival companies have similarly advanced their promotional timelines to compete for bargain hunters. Best Buy recently introduced its promotional events following the publication of its complete calendar, while Walmart and Target have also mapped out extensive November discount schedules.
Retail analysts note that consumers navigating the crowded shopping landscape can benefit from preparing detailed lists and comparing prices across competing stores ahead of time. With multiple retailers launching overlapping holiday promotions, careful planning remains essential for shoppers aiming to maximize savings throughout November.
