Two separate workplace accidents in Germany have left one individual dead and another in critical condition, prompting investigations by local authorities and safety regulators.

In the first incident, which occurred on Tuesday, November 3, a 61-year-old man from Hattingen sustained life-threatening injuries while working on a company site in Gummersbach. According to police reports, the man was working underneath a truck at approximately 9:35 a.m. when he became trapped beneath the vehicle. Emergency responders, including a physician, provided immediate medical care at the scene. Due to the severity of his condition, the victim was transported by a rescue helicopter to a specialized trauma clinic for further treatment. The Cologne district government's Office for Occupational Safety has been notified and is currently reviewing the circumstances of the accident.

A separate and fatal accident took place on Monday morning in Henstedt-Ulzburg, located in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. A 46-year-old construction worker from Hamburg died while working at a residential building site. The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. as workers were attempting to install an external staircase into an access shaft.

According to police statements, the worker became caught between the staircase and the short outer wall of the shaft. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts by emergency personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Investigators are currently examining whether the victim may have come into contact with an electrical cable located on the wall during the accident.

The Norderstedt criminal police department has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. As a precautionary measure, the relevant professional association has ordered the immediate shutdown of the construction site.

These incidents highlight the ongoing risks associated with industrial and construction environments. While the investigations into both cases remain in their early stages, officials are working to establish the precise sequence of events to ensure that safety protocols were followed and to prevent future occurrences.
