Raphaelle Ricci, one of the original figures from the French reality television series Star Academy, made a surprise return to the show to lead a debriefing session. Host Nikos Aliagas announced her comeback during Saturday night's live broadcast, which followed the elimination contestant Antoine.

Known to viewers as "Raphie," Ricci served as a prominent instructor on the program during its first seven seasons between 2001 and 2008. She earned a reputation for her blunt critiques and strict teaching style during the height of the show's popularity.

Her temporary return to the chateau in Dammarie-les-Lys came as a replacement for current stage expression teacher Lydia Bouchard. Ricci spent the day analyzing performances for the remaining contestants as they prepared for an upcoming gala dedicated to past winners.

Reflecting on her departure nearly two decades ago, Ricci previously shared that the intense media exposure and severe public backlash led to significant personal safety concerns. In a past social media broadcast, she recalled receiving threats that required the production team to assign her round-the-clock bodyguards.

Despite her history of strict feedback, current participants and recent visitors described her recent visit in a positive light. Season 12 winner Marine, who visited the students following evaluations, discussed the appearance with the housemates, noting that while the instructor historically intimidated viewers, the students found her sweet and emotional during her visit.

During her time back at the academy, Ricci engaged closely with the remaining competitors and shared a reunion moment with former winner Mosimann. Her brief return marks a notable moment for longtime fans of the network's singing competition as the current season continues with 14 candidates still in the running.
