Puka Nacua Scores 14th Catch Touchdown to Give Rams 20-13 Lead
Los Angeles retook the lead against Washington following a strong offensive drive.
Wide receiver Puka Nacua scored on his 14th reception of Sunday's game, giving the Los Angeles Rams a 20-13 lead over the Washington Commanders.
Operating with a depleted receiving corps, Nacua stepped up significantly for the offense throughout the matchup. His pivotal touchdown came on a second-and-goal play where he had to leap into the air to haul in the pass.
The scoring play capped off a 12-play, 65-yard drive orchestrated by the Rams to regain the advantage. During the possession, Los Angeles successfully converted its first third downs of the game, moving the chains on third-and-5, third-and-11, and a crucial third-and-1 inside the red zone.
Earlier in the contest, momentum had swung toward Washington after quarterback Matthew Stafford threw an interception during the third quarter deep in Los Angeles territory. Stafford targeted Nacua along the sideline, but Commanders safety Nick Cross anticipated the throw and intercepted the ball.
That turnover allowed Washington to capitalize and tie the score at 13-13 before the Rams mounted their responsive scoring drive to break the deadlock.
In addition to the competitive action on the field, the game saw injury developments. Washington center Lucas Patrick was forced to leave the contest and was officially downgraded to out after suffering a concussion.
