PSV Eindhoven will host Club Brugge on Wednesday evening at the Philips Stadion for a high-stakes UEFA Champions League league-phase fixture. Both squads enter the match aiming to secure vital points to strengthen their respective positions in the race for the knockout stages.

The Dutch champions head into the European fixture following an emphatic 7-0 victory over Willem II in domestic play. Meanwhile, Club Brugge arrives in the Netherlands carrying significant momentum under manager Ivan Leko, having triumphed in eight consecutive matches across all competitions. The Belgian side currently sits eight places above PSV in the league-phase standings.

PSV manager Peter Bosz will be looking for his team to record consecutive Champions League victories for the first time since January 2025. Their previous European outing resulted in a hard-fought 1-0 away win against Porto, courtesy of a decisive goal from Guus Til that secured their first clean sheet in the competition since November 2024.

Despite their recent domestic blowout, PSV faces a stern test against an in-form Club Brugge squad. The Dutch side is also hunting for its first-ever Champions League victory against Belgian opposition, having previously suffered defeats against Anderlecht and Union Saint-Gilloise in past European competitions.

Club Brugge has enjoyed a strong run in Europe following an initial 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on matchday one. Under Leko, the Belgian team bounced back with notable continental victories, including a thrilling 4-3 triumph against Inter Milan at San Siro and a 3-0 win against Lens, which propelled them to 11th place in the league-phase table.

Leko emphasized that his players must maintain their focus and approach the upcoming match against PSV with ambition rather than relying on past successes. He noted that his young squad has not yet reached its full potential and must be willing to take tactical risks.

Both teams enter the fixture dealing with different roster situations. PSV is facing several injury concerns, with key players such as Paul Wanner, Sam Lammers, Adamo Nagalo, Alassane Pléa, Jerdy Schouten, and Sami Ouaissa expected to sit out. However, Ricardo Pepi returns to contention, and Sven Mijnans looks to continue his strong form following a stellar performance against Willem II.

Club Brugge travels with fewer absences, listing Joel Ordóñez as their only confirmed absentee. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer is expected to anchor the defense, while Nicolò Tresoldi remains the team's primary offensive threat, having scored four of the club's nine Champions League goals this season alongside support from wide attackers Carlos Forbs and Jan Virgili.
