Prince Harry Opens Up About His Recent Move Back to the United Kingdom
The Duke of Sussex revealed that his family's return to the UK involved very little planning but aimed to give his children a new educational experience.
Prince Harry has shared surprising details about his family's recent return to the United Kingdom, revealing that the significant relocation involved very little long-term preparation. Speaking during a recent appearance on GQ’s interview series One More Question, the Duke of Sussex discussed the impromptu nature of the move after nearly six years away.
The Duke explained that while the idea had been considered in the past, the final decision happened quickly when the right moment presented itself. "We’ve had plans in the past, and I think for lots of people, it’s like, if you’re going to make a big move like this, that’s going to take a lot of planning. For us, it was very short," Harry stated during the episode.
He added that the choice felt right once everything aligned. "It’s something that we’ve thought about, and we’ve considered. But for us, when certain stars align and it’s clear that this should or probably will end up being the case, then we lean into that," he noted.
A primary motivator for the move was the chance to share his childhood roots with his family. Harry traveled back to the UK alongside his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, for an extended stay.
"To actually have my whole family there with me, the place that I grew up, wanting to be able to show my kids where I grew up and have them have the experiences to some extent that I had, the good rather than necessarily the bad, provided real proper serious thinking as to: 'This is an opportunity, let’s do it now,'" the former working royal explained.
Education also played a major role in the decision, with Prince Harry noting the positive impact the transition has had on his children so far. After enrolling them in school, he realized how meaningful the change was.
"I didn’t know how important it was to me," Harry said. "I always thought it was going to be something that we would try and do, but now they’ve been in school for two weeks. They’re loving it, and it’s just giving them a whole different experience."
