Panathinaikos continued its strong performance in the UEFA Conference League this week, securing a 2-1 victory against CSKA Sofia at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. The win marks the third consecutive triumph for the Greek side in the league phase of the competition, keeping them firmly in second place with a perfect nine points.

The match saw the home side take the lead in the 41st minute. Right back Davide Calabria scored with a composed finish after receiving a back-flick from teammate Vicente Taborda. However, the advantage was short-lived as CSKA Sofia equalized shortly after through a Dinis Almeida volley following a corner kick.

The decisive moment arrived in the second half when Vicente Taborda transitioned from provider to scorer. In the 68th minute, Andreas Tetteh delivered a low cross that deflected off Taborda’s midriff and into the net. This unconventional goal proved sufficient to secure all three points for the Greens.

Statistical analysis of the match highlights the dominance of Panathinaikos, who controlled 62.6% of possession. The team registered 24 shots, with 12 on target, compared to just five on-target attempts from the visitors. Despite the pressure from the home side, CSKA Sofia’s goalkeeper was kept busy, recording 10 saves throughout the encounter.

This result places Panathinaikos in a favorable position as the competition progresses. Currently, they are one of four teams to have earned nine points from their first three matches, trailing others only on goal difference. The club's recent form has been a highlight for Greek soccer fans, following a string of positive results in both domestic and European fixtures.

The victory in Athens was part of a successful week for Greek clubs in European competition. Alongside the success of Panathinaikos, OFI also celebrated a 2-0 away win against Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League. These performances have significantly improved the standing of Greek teams in their respective continental tournaments as they look toward the knockout phases.
