Palantir Faces High Expectations Ahead of Third-Quarter Earnings Report

Analysts anticipate significant revenue growth as investors closely watch the software company's artificial intelligence durability.

Palantir Technologies is set to release its third-quarter financial results after the market closes on Monday, putting the stock's artificial intelligence durability to the test. Wall Street analysts expect another strong performance, though retail sentiment surrounding the equity has remained cautious.

The data analytics software provider experienced downward pressure in October as investors pulled back from artificial intelligence-linked equities broadly. Despite this market turbulence, Palantir's pullback was relatively mild compared to broader technology indexes, falling only 1.5% during the month while the Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 declined by nearly 7%.

Palantir's defensive posture has largely been attributed to its exceptional second-quarter report, which sent shares soaring by 30% in a single session back in August. The company specializes in developing software that enables governments and corporate clients to run advanced analytics on massive datasets, positioning it as a major beneficiary of the ongoing artificial intelligence boom.

Market analysts are largely optimistic heading into the third-quarter report, forecasting a revenue increase of 85% to reach $2.18 billion, down slightly from the 93% growth rate recorded in the previous quarter. Furthermore, adjusted profits are projected to climb by 94% to reach $0.41 per share.

Financial institutions have adjusted their outlooks positively ahead of the earnings release. Last week, Oppenheimer raised its price target on the stock from $200 to $235 while maintaining an outperform rating, citing expectations for higher annual guidance and sustained momentum in both United States commercial and government sectors. Similarly, JPMorgan initiated coverage on the company with an overweight rating and a $262 price target, highlighting improving fundamentals and effective margin management at scale.

Data from Koyfin indicates that 21 out of 32 tracked analysts currently maintain a buy rating or higher on Palantir stock. Eight analysts rate the company a hold, while three maintain a sell rating or lower. The average analyst price target sits at $212.50, suggesting a potential upside of 15% from the stock's most recent closing price.

Earnings reports across the enterprise data analytics sector have yielded mixed results thus far. While companies like Commvault surpassed estimates with a 13.1% revenue increase, others such as Strategy missed expectations after posting a year-over-year revenue decline of 2.5%. Palantir's upcoming figures will provide further clarity on how well enterprise software leaders are capitalizing on high-demand technology trends.
