Financial markets faced significant activity as several major global corporations released their latest financial reports, updated forecasts, and confronted operational setbacks. In the technology sector, Intel saw its stock drop sharply after the company issued a weak outlook for the fourth quarter, overshadowing its revenue growth in the third quarter.

During the third quarter of 2026, Intel generated 16.5 billion US dollars in revenue, marking a 21 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. However, net income fell by 18 percent to 3.3 billion US dollars. The company projected fourth-quarter revenue between 15 billion and 16 billion US dollars, driven down by manufacturing bottlenecks, sluggish demand in the traditional PC market due to high RAM prices, and ongoing losses in its foundry division. Following the announcement, Intel shares dropped in after-hours trading from 92 to under 72 US dollars.

Intel's production constraints were exacerbated by an accident at its Fab 28 facility in Kiryat Gat, Israel, on October 14, which resulted in two fatalities following a gas container explosion and subsequently throttled manufacturing output. Furthermore, executives noted that tight supplies of chip package substrates will likely restrict operations until mid-2027.

In the defense sector, Rheinmetall shares experienced modest gains following the announcement that the company, alongside KNDS, secured an order to deliver 69 wheeled armored vehicles to the German and Dutch armed authorities. Despite trimming its annual revenue forecast earlier, Rheinmetall continues to anticipate strong growth between 37 and 42 percent alongside an operating margin of 19 percent.

Concurrently, state protection authorities in Germany launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack after three construction machines caught fire on a Rheinmetall construction site at the Kassel-Calden airport on Friday. While investigators have found no direct link between the incident and Rheinmetall's planned operations, the company intends to report its third-quarter financial results on November 5, 2026.

Meanwhile, streaming giant Netflix traded near its yearly lows as analysts weighed strong operational profitability and robust free cash flow against a lowered advertising forecast and delayed technical rollouts. Despite a majority consensus recommendation to buy from Wall Street analysts, who set an average 12-month target of 82.91 euros, market skepticism persists regarding execution risks and mounting competitive pressures from companies like Amazon, Disney, and YouTube.

Swiss markets also saw varied performances, with strong demand for select blue-chip stocks contrasting with losses among specialized industrial and technology firms. Across international exchanges, investors continued to assess macroeconomic headwinds, currency fluctuations, and sector-specific operational updates to determine corporate valuations.
