Unranked Oregon rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat No. 20 Northwestern 34-26 on Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. The victory halted a tough stretch for the Ducks, who improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten under interim offensive play-caller Jay Johnson.

Northwestern controlled the tempo during the opening half, amassing 284 yards of total offense and scoring on four of its five possessions. The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter when Griffin Wilde hauled in a 64-yard touchdown pass following a trick play dialed up by Northwestern offensive coordinator and former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly. After Oregon narrowed the gap with two field goals, Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles scrambled for a five-yard touchdown late in the second quarter to extend the lead to 20-6.

The momentum shifted just before halftime when Oregon quarterback Dylan Raiola connected with Dakorien Moore on a 10-yard fade route in the back corner of the end zone with 27 seconds remaining, trimming Northwestern's lead to 20-13 at intermission. Following an Oregon fumble near midfield early in the third quarter, Jackson Kleather kicked a 49-yard field goal to push the Wildcats' advantage to 23-13.

Despite losing their top two running backs, Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill, to injuries during the game, the Ducks mounted a high-octane comeback over the final twenty minutes. Reserve tailback Brandon Smith stepped in to rush for 82 yards, while tight end Jamari Johnson caught a touchdown pass and later secured the victory with a clutch first-down conversion with 1:20 left on the clock.

The game's defining moment arrived early in the fourth quarter. Immediately after Northwestern pulled within 27-26 on another field goal, Moore caught a 75-yard touchdown bomb from Raiola. Moore finished the contest with seven receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Raiola completed the afternoon with 336 passing yards and three scores.

Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles finished with 281 passing yards and 93 rushing yards, accounting for a touchdown both through the air and on the ground. However, Oregon's pass rush tightened in the final quarter, collecting three crucial sacks to stall the Wildcats' late comeback bids and seal the 34-26 outcome.

The physical contest also featured a scary moment in the third quarter when Northwestern sophomore safety Jon Jon Stevens sustained an apparent head injury while attempting a tackle on Brandon Smith. Medical staff evaluated Stevens on the field before placing him on a cart and taking him through the tunnel at Autzen Stadium for further evaluation.

With the loss, No. 20 Northwestern dropped to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play, halting a potential five-game winning streak. Meanwhile, Oregon improved to 5-3 and will look to carry its momentum into an upcoming matchup against Ohio State.
