New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland Students Conclude Exam Season
Senior students across Australia celebrate the end of major high school examinations as new revision technologies emerge.
High school students in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland have concluded a demanding examination season, marking the end of years of preparation for thousands of teenagers. Nearly 9,000 students completed physics exams on a Thursday afternoon, bringing the 2026 HSC exam cycle to a close across Australia.
Over an 18-day testing period, students sat more than 400,000 exam sessions spanning 123 written assessments. These evaluations took place across 800 designated centers with the coordination of 8,000 staff members. Marking is currently underway, with over 5,500 assessors reviewing more than 1.2 million papers before official results and ATAR scores are released in mid-December.
Educators and officials encouraged students to celebrate their achievements following more than a decade of formal schooling. Paul Martin, chief executive of the New South Wales Education Standards Authority, urged students to take pride in completing the rigorous testing process. Students celebrated by destroying past study notes in small fires or gathering for traditional meals with classmates.
As students finished their testing cycles, the education sector has seen the introduction of new digital preparation tools designed to assist in future academic milestones. Education Perfect officially launched a Senior Exam Revision platform targeted at Year 11 and 12 students preparing for the HSC, VCE, and QCE systems.
The new platform incorporates findings from an analysis of 250,000 secondary student answers, which demonstrated that immediate feedback significantly increases the likelihood that students will revisit and correct weak responses. According to company data, 83% of students who submitted low-scoring initial answers attempted them again when instant feedback was provided, compared to only 7% without it.
The software provides indicative marks and written guidance mapped against state-specific marking criteria. It also features learning guides to help students understand cognitive verbs used in assessments without supplying direct model answers. For educators, the platform provides insights into class-wide learning gaps prior to final evaluations.
Jonathan Morgan, Chief Executive Officer of Education Perfect, emphasized the support the tool offers to educators managing heavy workloads in senior years. The system has received approval through the Safer Technologies 4 Schools Product Badge Program, ensuring student data remains stored in Australia and is not used for external artificial intelligence training.
