A New Hampshire man was arrested early Sunday morning after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed vehicle pursuit along Route 101 and attempting to escape on foot, according to local authorities. Alexander Hyatt, 26, of Hampton, now faces numerous criminal charges stemming from the incident.

Hampton police stated that the sequence of events began at approximately 3:12 a.m. on Sunday when an officer spotted a vehicle traveling at roughly 115 mph on Route 101. The officer closed the distance near the interchange and attempted to execute a traffic stop, but the driver continued eastbound before shifting direction northward onto Ocean Boulevard.

The vehicle chase eventually came to an initial halt when Hyatt struck a median curb near Rocky Bend, which disabled his car. Responding officers initiated a high-risk traffic stop and commanded the driver to surrender, but Hyatt refused to follow instructions.

Police reported that officers attempted to deploy less-lethal measures to secure compliance and safely detain the suspect, though those efforts did not succeed. Hyatt managed to get back inside his vehicle and drove a short distance further until the car became completely immobilized.

Following the second vehicle stoppage, Hyatt exited the automobile once again, ignored officer commands, and sprinted away on foot. Law enforcement officers pursued him immediately and placed him under arrest after a brief foot chase.

Following his capture, Hyatt was taken to a nearby medical facility for an evaluation. After receiving medical clearance, he was booked into the Rockingham County jail, where he was held pending a scheduled Monday morning arraignment.

Authorities confirmed that no significant injuries were reported during the entire incident, and property damage was limited solely to Hyatt's own vehicle. He has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless operation, disobeying a police officer, and resisting arrest or detention, among other offenses.

Hampton Police Chief Alex Reno emphasized the severe hazards associated with impaired driving, noting the potential for a far more tragic result. Drinking and driving combined with extreme speeds creates an immense danger to everyone sharing the roadway, Reno stated, stressing that such behavior has no place in the community. The investigation remains active.
