Monterrey and Tijuana Play to Thrilling Draw in Liga MX

Rayados de Monterrey and Xolos de Tijuana played to a vibrant 3-3 draw on Saturday, October 31, during the 15th round of the Torneo Apertura of Liga MX 2026. The match took place at the BBVA Stadium and featured intense offensive action from both sides.

The visiting Tijuana side relied on a standout performance by Ecuadorian forward Adonis Preciado. The Guayaquil-born winger scored a brace to lead the Xolos' attack, which also featured his compatriot Jackson Porozo.

Preciado opened the scoring in stoppage time of the first half, finding the back of the net at the 45+3-minute mark. He struck again in the second half at the 60-minute mark to secure his second goal of the night.

Despite Tijuana's efforts, Monterrey answered with a notable offensive display, highlighted by an impressive bicycle kick from Argentine midfielder Lucas Ocampos in the 12th minute of the second half.

Following a precise cross from Óliver Torres on the right flank, Ocampos elevated into the air and executed a flawless bicycle kick that sailed into the right corner of the goal, past goalkeeper Antonio Rodríguez.

This remarkable goal marked Ocampos's seventh tally in just 12 matches during the current tournament, placing him firmly in the top five of the league's leading goalscorers alongside other prominent players such as Salomón Rondón, Henry Martín, Juninho, and Juan Brunetta.

The technical execution of the strike quickly sparked praise and discussion regarding a potential candidacy for the FIFA Puskás Award, following in the footsteps of fellow Argentine players who previously won the distinction.

The point earned from the dramatic 3-3 draw allowed the Monterrey squad to temporarily move into the direct playoff qualification zone as the Apertura tournament progresses toward its decisive stages.
