Mohun Bagan Super Giant secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Manvir Singh broke the deadlock late in the game, scoring with his chest in the 85th minute after receiving an accurate cross from Liston Colaco on the left flank.

The victory marks the second consecutive win for Panagiotis Dilmperis' side, lifting them to three points early in the 2026-27 campaign. The Mariners previously opened their season with a 1-0 defeat against NorthEast United before bouncing back with a 2-1 win over Sporting Club Delhi.

Despite the final scoreline, Chennaiyin FC played with high aggression throughout the match, registering 25 total shots compared to Mohun Bagan's 17. The visiting side tested the home defense repeatedly, but goalkeeper Vishal Kaith delivered a solid performance to preserve the clean sheet.

Chennaiyin manager Clifford Miranda saw his team extend their winless run to three matches in the league. The Marina Machans previously drew 1-1 against FC Goa in their season opener before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Monday's fixture marked the third consecutive away match for Chennaiyin to begin their season. The team will now look to regroup as they prepare to return home to Chennai for their upcoming fixture against the Kerala Blasters.

Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan will host Punjab FC in their next league encounter. The Kolkata giants previously completed a league double against Punjab during the previous season and will aim to maintain their winning momentum in front of their home supporters.
