Minnesota Vikings Defeat Indianapolis Colts 16-10 to Advance to 6-0
The Vikings secured a narrow victory over the Colts behind Will Reichard's three field goals and a standout defensive performance.
The Minnesota Vikings improved their record to 6-0 for the first time since 2009 following a hard-fought 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Kicker Will Reichard contributed three crucial field goals for Minnesota, while T.J. Hockenson hauled in a go-ahead touchdown pass to help lift the offense. Safety Harrison Smith ultimately sealed the win with a late interception.
Quarterback Kyler Murray finished the game completing 14-of-24 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 39 rushing yards on five carries. The Minnesota offense scored its lone touchdown on a five-yard toss from Murray to Hockenson.
Despite the victory, the story of the Vikings' season has been characterized by a vaunted defense paired with a more mediocre offense. Murray struggled to connect with open receivers for much of the day and nearly had Juan Jennings for a long passing touchdown in the second quarter before Jennings failed to haul it in.
Defensively, Blake Cashman stood out as the star of the unit, recording 12 tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hits, and four passes defended to stifle the Indianapolis attack.
The victory marks a crucial stretch for the Vikings, who now face a demanding upcoming schedule featuring matchups against the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills for Monday Night Football, the Green Bay Packers, and the San Francisco 49ers.
