Mexico Announces Registration and Virtual Assembly for Rita Cetina Scholarship
The Mexican government prepares families for the upcoming enrollment period for basic education financial support.
The Secretariat of Public Education in Mexico has scheduled a virtual assembly to guide parents, mothers, and legal guardians through the registration process for the Rita Cetina Scholarship. Aimed at elementary and middle school students, the online meeting seeks to address common questions regarding required documentation, the Llave MX system, bank card distribution, and deposit schedules.
Education Secretary Mario Delgado explained that the broadcast is designed to assist families who were unable to attend earlier in-person meetings held directly at schools. "We know that there are days when time runs out, that due to work or for some other reason, perhaps you could not accompany us at the school assemblies, but nothing happens, because if you could not reach the assembly, we bring the assembly to you," Delgado stated.
The virtual session features the National Coordinator for Welfare Scholarships, Julio León Trujillo, alongside other public servants. Participants can join the stream on the official Facebook page of the National Coordination for Welfare Scholarships and submit questions regarding their specific state and municipality. Local education officials are assigned to follow up on these inquiries and assist families throughout the procedure.
Following the informational sessions, the official online registration window for the Universal Rita Cetina Basic Education Scholarship and the primary school uniform and supplies support opens. Secretary Delgado indicated that the application period runs through early November. The initiative targets families with children enrolled in public elementary and middle schools across the country.
This effort is part of a broader federal target to reach 22 million scholarships for students ranging from preschool to higher education. Under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the educational policy aims to foster student retention and prevent children and adolescents from dropping out due to economic hardships. For the academic term, the basic education scholarship benefits nearly 15 million students.
Financial allocations vary depending on the educational level and family composition. Middle school households receive a bimonthly amount of 1,900 pesos when there is a single student, with an additional 700 pesos bimonthly for each extra middle school student within the same family. Additionally, an annual payment of 2,500 pesos is distributed to elementary students from first through sixth grade to cover school uniforms and supplies.
Officials advise parents and guardians to prepare ahead of time by gathering essential documentation. Requirements include checking that the population registry codes, known as CURP, are certified for both the applicant and the children. Families must also have a personal email address, a mobile phone number, and a pre-existing Llave MX account to streamline the digital registration process on the official website.
