McDonald's Japan Launches 390-Yen Afternoon Value Menu Nationwide
The new 390 Pair promotion allows customers to select any eligible side and a medium drink for a fixed price starting at 2 p.m. daily.
McDonald's Japan rolled out its nationwide release of a new value menu option called the "390 Pair," offering customers a combination of one eligible side dish and one medium-sized beverage for a tax-included price of 390 yen. The promotion officially launched across the country on October 21.
Available daily from 2 p.m. until closing—or until 4:59 a.m. at 24-hour locations—the new menu targets afternoon cafe visits, quick snack cravings, and social gatherings. Following successful preliminary trials in select areas that began in December of the previous year, the fast-food giant decided to expand the offering nationwide.
Unlike standard burger value meals, the "390 Pair" focuses strictly on combining popular snacks with beverages. Customers can choose from five distinct side dishes, which include French fries, Chicken McNuggets (five pieces), Juicy Peach Chicken, hotcakes, and McFlurry Oreo Cookies.
The beverage selection features ten medium-sized options: Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero, Sprite, Fanta Grape, Fanta Melon, Qoo White Grape, Sokenbicha tea, Earl Grey iced tea, hot tea, and premium roast coffee served either hot or iced. Altogether, these choices create 50 different pairing combinations.
According to McDonald's representatives, data gathered from the earlier regional trials revealed clear favorites among consumers. The top-ranked combination was French fries paired with Coca-Cola, followed by French fries with Fanta Grape in second place, and French fries with Fanta Melon taking third place.
Depending on the specific items selected, customers can save up to 250 yen compared to purchasing the items individually. However, financial savings vary across different combinations, meaning the maximum discount does not apply uniformly to all 50 possible pairs.
Certain locations and delivery services are excluded from the promotion. Company officials recommend checking local store availability and official guidelines to confirm participation and specific product conditions before ordering.
