Celebrity chef Marcus Wareing has stated that former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace is moving on following his termination from the BBC cooking show. Wallace stepped away from his role on the program and its related series in November 2024 while historic allegations of misconduct were examined.

Following an independent investigation, Wallace was dismissed in July 2025 after 45 allegations were substantiated. These claims included inappropriate sexual language and a single incident of unwelcome physical contact. At the time, Wallace apologized for causing distress while maintaining that the report cleared him of the most severe accusations.

The network also dismissed co-star John Torode in July 2025 after a separate allegation involving a heavily offensive racist term was upheld. Torode stated that he had no recollection of the event and expressed shock and sadness regarding the claim.

Wareing, who has served as a judge on MasterChef: The Professionals since 2014, discussed the situation in an interview with The Sunday Times. He described the period as difficult for both Wallace and Torode, noting that the controversy was separate from his own work.

Regarding his current relationship with Wallace, Wareing mentioned that he occasionally views Wallace's updates on social media. “I see Gregg on social media from time to time and he’s moving on now,” Wareing said, adding that constant communication with people from the past serves as a persistent reminder, though he noted that Wallace appeared to be doing well.

Following his departure, Wallace initiated legal action against the broadcaster in October 2025, accusing the organization of causing distress and harassment by failing to disclose personal data. He ultimately dropped the lawsuit in February.

In January, Wallace published a lengthy statement on Substack addressing his conduct on the show. In the post, he apologized for his behavior and for an initial reaction in which he dismissed the complaints as coming from specific demographic groups.

Wallace defended his actions on set by comparing his remarks to innuendos featured on other television programs. He wrote that his intention was to participate in the workplace culture, acknowledging that he relied heavily on sexual innuendo and banter during filming.
