Luís Tralhão has officially concluded his tenure as the head coach of Sport Clube União Torreense. The separation, which was described by the coach as unexpected, comes after a period of mixed results at the start of the current season, leading the club's administration to appoint João Nuno as his successor.

In a public statement shared on social media, Tralhão expressed his sadness regarding the abrupt end of his time with the club, while simultaneously emphasizing his gratitude for the achievements reached during his leadership. He noted that while he leaves with a sense of disappointment, he remains proud of the historic milestones established during his time in Torres Vedras.

Tralhão’s tenure was highlighted by a significant achievement in Portuguese football: leading a second-division team to win the Taça de Portugal. This victory, which included a 2-1 win over Sporting in the final, secured the club's first-ever qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Additionally, he guided the team to the Liga Revelação title and a third-place finish in the league, although the club narrowly missed promotion to the first division during the playoffs.

Reflecting on his time at the club, the 48-year-old coach stated, "I take with me, above all, the pride of having written one of the most beautiful pages in the history of this club and Portuguese football." He emphasized that his legacy extends beyond statistics, focusing on the relationships built with players, staff, management, and the local community.

The club moved quickly to fill the vacancy, selecting 41-year-old João Nuno to lead the team. Nuno, who has previous experience with clubs such as Estrela da Amadora and Belenenses, has been tasked with solidifying the club's growth. The administration stated that this change marks the beginning of a new chapter for the organization.

The decision to part ways with Tralhão followed a challenging start to the season, during which the team recorded only three victories in 12 matches. Despite these recent difficulties, the club acknowledged the impact of his work, which included overseeing 36 matches for the main squad and 48 games for the under-23 team.

In his final message to the supporters, Tralhão thanked the people of Torres Vedras for their support and hospitality. "The affection I received will always stay with me," he concluded, expressing his appreciation for the privilege of representing the region and the club.
