LOSC Lille and Galatasaray reached halftime with a 2-2 tie on Wednesday during their third-round fixture of the UEFA Champions League group stage at Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Both teams entered the match aiming for their first points in the European competition after losing their opening two fixtures.

The match began with early action when Galatasaray capitalized on defensive struggles. In the second minute, Yunus Akgün recovered possession in the center and opened the scoring for the visiting side. However, Lille responded quickly through a surprise tactical choice by manager Davide Ancelotti.

With summer signing Ayase Ueda sidelined due to a foot injury, nineteen-year-old academy product Soriba Diaoune received a surprise start ahead of Olivier Giroud. In the seventh minute, Diaoune latched onto a through ball, bypassed his defender and goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakir, and slotted the ball into the empty net. At 19 years and 68 days old, the achievement made him the youngest goalscorer in Lille's Champions League history.

Diaoune struck again in the 39th minute with a curling right-footed shot to give the French side the lead. His performance marked his first goals in the competition and his first official goals since December 2025. The advantage lasted only briefly, as defensive lapses allowed Galatasaray to equalize just before the break. Unmarked at the near post, Aleksey Batrakov scored with a header in the 44th minute to level the score at 2-2.

Both managers deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation for the encounter. Lille fielded Berke Özer in goal, supported defensively by Maxima Goffi, Nathan Ngoy, Alexsandro Ribeiro, and Calvin Verdonk. Nabil Bentaleb and Benjamin André managed the midfield, while Hákon Haraldsson supported an attack featuring Dilane Bakwa, Ngal’ayel Mukau, and Diaoune.

Galatasaray lined up with Uğurcan Çakır guarding the net behind defenders Roland Sallai, Davinson Sánchez, Abdülkerim Bardakcı, and Ismaïl Jakobs. Gabriel Sara and Lucas Torreira controlled the midfield alongside playmaker Aleksey Batrakov, while Victor Osimhen led the forward line with support from Yunus Akgün and Barış Alper Yılmaz.

As the second half approaches, both clubs face intense pressure to secure a victory that could salvage their European campaigns. With neither side managing to establish a definitive lead during the opening forty-five minutes, the remainder of the match remains wide open.
