Jordi Rosell, a prominent Spanish television director, realization artist, and executive producer who shaped some of the nation's most popular entertainment formats, has died at the age of 63. His passing was announced by the team behind the Benidorm Fest, marking the end of a career spanning more than three decades behind the scenes of Spain's audiovisual industry.

Beginning his professional journey at the Catalan regional broadcaster TV3, Rosell later transitioned to national networks. Over the course of his career, he collaborated with major production companies such as Gestmusic, Shine Iberia, El Terrat, Magnolia, and Mediacrest, working on various genres that included reality shows, game shows, and large-scale musical galas.

From 2007 to 2010, Rosell directed the reality competition Supervivientes during a complex period for the genre. He later took on directorial responsibilities for the debut edition of MasterChef in 2013, which drew millions of viewers. His portfolio also included leadership roles in the successful revival of the music talent show Operación Triunfo on Televisión Española between 2017 and 2019, as well as directing the Ondas Awards ceremonies on eight occasions.

Colleagues and former contestants quickly shared tributes highlighting both his professional expertise and personal character. Inés Hernand, who presented the Benidorm Fest, described him as a kind and serene professional in a demanding industry, while presenter Roberto Leal praised him as a guiding beacon during their time together on Operación Triunfo. Former contestants such as Ana Guerra and Roi Méndez also expressed gratitude for his mentorship and support during their television appearances.

In 2016, the Television Academy recognized his contributions by awarding him one of its Talent Awards, honoring professionals whose behind-the-scenes work is fundamental to the audiovisual sector. His final projects included newer programs such as La conexión and the musical festival Benidorm Fest.

Fellow producer Eva Tovar remembered him as a core pillar and mentor whose legacy extends beyond his successful projects to his genuine passion for television. Rosell leaves behind a profound impact on the teams he guided, the networks he served, and the viewers who experienced his work across generations.
