The initial public offering for Jio Platforms, backed by Reliance Industries, opened for public subscription on October 21, 2026, and was fully subscribed within the first 100 minutes. By the end of the first day of bidding, the mammoth Rs 30,213-crore issue achieved an overall subscription of over 3 times, marking what is expected to be India's largest-ever public offering.

Investors can bid within a price band of Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per equity share, with a minimum lot size of 12 shares. Ahead of the public opening, Jio mobilized Rs 8,109.84 crore from 212 anchor investors, including prominent global firms such as BlackRock, Capital Group, and Fidelity Investments. The public offering will remain open until October 23.

Qualified Institutional Buyers led the demand on Day 1, booking their allocated portion over 9 times. Non-Institutional Investors subscribed 1.59 times their quota, while the retail investors category was booked at approximately 69 percent. The employee and shareholder reserved portions were also fully subscribed at 1.30 times and 1.39 times, respectively.

In the unlisted market, the grey market premium stood at around Rs 251 to Rs 265 per share, indicating an estimated listing price of approximately Rs 1,370 to Rs 1,384 against the upper price band. Market analysts noted that the robust grey market premium reflects an estimated potential listing gain of about 22 to 23 percent, though unofficial market indicators do not guarantee final listing performance.

The proceeds from the IPO are primarily designated to prepay foreign currency External Commercial Borrowings owed by its primary operating subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. Managing Director Akash Ambani stated that a core objective of taking the company public is to move toward becoming debt-free, which will strengthen the consolidated balance sheet and eliminate foreign exchange volatility.

Major brokerages have issued generally favorable outlooks on the issue, recommending subscription for the medium to long term. Analysts pointed to the company's extensive digital connectivity network, growing 5G subscriber base, and future revenue drivers in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and enterprise solutions as key strengths supporting its valuation.

The basis of allotment for the public issue is expected to be finalized on October 26, 2026, with shares tentatively scheduled to list on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange on October 28. Leadership emphasized that moving forward with a public listing brings heightened responsibility to shareholders, customers, and employees alike.
