Goa Shipyard Announces Non-Executive Vacancies and Rafale Marine Conducts Trials
Goa Shipyard opens applications for 91 positions while the Indian Navy successfully tests the Rafale Marine aircraft on the INS Vikrant.
Goa Shipyard Limited has officially released a recruitment notification for 91 non-executive positions across various technical and support roles. The application process commenced on October 28, 2026, and interested candidates have until November 27, 2026, at 5:00 PM to submit their online forms through the official company website.
The recruitment drive encompasses 20 distinct job categories, including technical assistants, junior supervisors, nurses, welders, shipright fitters, and painters. Educational requirements vary significantly by role, ranging from 10th grade and ITI certification for certain positions to specialized degrees, diplomas, and relevant work experience for technical assistant roles.
Age limits for the majority of general and economically weaker section applicants are capped at 33 years, though specific roles allow for higher limits, such as 36 years for Hindi translators and 41 years for steward-cum-cooks. Eligible reserved categories will receive age relaxations according to standard regulations, with age calculations measured as of September 30, 2026.
Application fees are set at 200 rupees for general, non-creamy layer other backward classes, and economically weaker section candidates, while fees are entirely waived for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, persons with benchmark disabilities, and ex-servicemen. Selected individuals will be hired on an initial three-year contract that may be extended by up to two years, with monthly starting salaries ranging between 27,200 and 41,400 rupees depending on the position.
In separate developments in the region, the Indian Navy successfully completed the initial trial landing of a Rafale Marine aircraft aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. The test flight took place off the coast of Goa on October 29, marking a crucial milestone in integrating the fighter jet with the naval carrier's operations.
The trial is part of ongoing evaluations to assess compatibility and make necessary adjustments before officially inducting the aircraft into the fleet. India previously signed a 63,000-crore rupee defense agreement with France in April 2025 to procure 26 Rafale Marine aircraft, comprising 22 single-seater fighters and four twin-seater trainers, with deliveries scheduled for completion by 2030.
The overarching defense contract also incorporates technology transfer provisions for mounting locally produced weaponry onto the aircraft, alongside the establishment of domestic fuselage manufacturing centers and maintenance facilities for engines, sensors, and weapons. These additions are expected to significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Indian Navy within the Indian Ocean region.
