Gil Vicente and Vitória SC played to a scoreless 0-0 draw on Monday at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, concluding the 10th round of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. The match featured tight defensive organization from both clubs, resulting in a game where neither side could break the deadlock despite late offensive pressure.

The fixture marked the first managerial meeting between Gil Vicente coach Luís Pinto and his former club Vitória SC, where he won the previous edition of the League Cup. Ahead of the match, Pinto noted that mutual familiarity between the coaching staffs would prevent any distinct tactical advantages. Vitória was guided by manager Tiago Margarido, who aimed to maintain squad consistency following a 5-0 victory against Marítimo in the previous round.

The first half saw limited action as both teams struggled to establish attacking rhythm during the opening minutes. The best opportunity for the hosts arrived in the 36th minute when Santi García sent a low cross from the right side, allowing Andreas Lausen to connect with a back-heel shot that struck the goalpost. The visitors controlled portions of the early possession but found it difficult to penetrate the final third.

After a scoreless first half, the tempo increased slightly following the interval. Gil Vicente threatened again in the 61st minute when a set-piece deflection off David Moreira hit Santi García and traveled narrowly past the post. Vitória sought a breakthrough late in the match, culminating in an 89th-minute chance when Oumar Camara missed wide after goalkeeper Lucão failed to secure the initial cross.

The match was also affected by off-pitch circumstances, as organized supporter groups from Vitória staged a boycott protesting the 25-euro ticket prices allocated for visiting fans. Consequently, only about 300 supporters were present in the away section to back the visiting squad at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos.

With this result, Gil Vicente secured their second consecutive match without a win, bringing their total to 15 points and keeping them in seventh place in the league standings. Furthermore, the club preserved the division's top defensive record, having conceded only seven goals across the campaign so far. Meanwhile, Vitória SC moved to nine points, securing their first away point of the season to sit in 13th position.
