German Darts Player Max Hopp Secures Nine-Dart Finish

German professional darts player Max Hopp delivered a standout moment during the 2026 Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Pro Tour by hitting a nine-dart finish. Known by his nickname "The Maximiser," Hopp achieved the prestigious feat during Players Championship 6 at the Leicester Arena.

The 2026 PDC Players Championship series features 34 non-televised ranking tournaments held across various cities in Europe, offering a total prize fund of £150,000 per event. Hopp's perfect leg occurred during his match against Thibault Tricole, adding to a growing list of highlights in the ongoing circuit.

Hopp, who hails from Idstein, has enjoyed a storied career on the professional circuit since turning his early promise into success. He secured the PDC World Youth Championship in 2015 at the age of 19 and made history in 2018 by winning the German Darts Open, becoming the first German player to claim a PDC European Tour title.

After facing physical setbacks and a decline in form that resulted in the loss of his Tour Card at the end of 2022, Hopp spent two years rebuilding his standing on the Challenge Tour. His dedication culminated in an emotional comeback in January 2025 at the European Q-School, where he won Event Two to reclaim his professional tour card.

The Players Championship circuit continues to be dominated by high-level competition and exceptional scoring. Throughout the 2026 season, players have routinely posted high averages and numerous maximum checkouts, with the top 64 participants ultimately advancing to the Players Championship Finals in November based on the Order of Merit.

As Hopp continues his campaign on the Pro Tour, his recent nine-dart finish underscores his enduring capability at the highest level of professional darts. With career earnings exceeding £521,000 and ongoing participation in the demanding PDC calendar, the German competitor remains a notable figure in the sport.
