French Icon Mylène Farmer Releases Thirteenth Album Titled Égrégore
The electronic-driven record features production work by DJ Lewis and maintains the singer's signature pop aesthetic.
French music icon Mylène Farmer released her thirteenth studio album, titled Égrégore, on Friday. The release marks her first full-length project since 2022 and brings a fresh collection of electronic and atmospheric tracks to her extensive discography.
While Le Figaro highlighted the album as one of her most successful records of the last decade, praising its focus on lyrical depth and French phrasing, Le Monde noted that the release balances melancholy and sex-appeal, describing it as more efficient than audaciously experimental.
The album includes production contributions from young French musician and hip-hop producer DJ Lewis, who worked on eight tracks, including the title song Égrégore, alongside songs like C'est à qui le tour and Des lols et des quoi. DJ Lewis, who has also collaborated with Drake, is the son of Hervé Lewis, a long-time photographer and close friend of Farmer since the 1980s.
Reflecting on the collaboration, DJ Lewis explained that the creative process moved quickly once Farmer approved his initial instrumental submission. "She knows exactly what she wants, but she is very open to novelty. She is always curious to hear new sounds," he said, adding that working in the studio together involved a relaxed atmosphere of humor mixed with professional focus.
DJ Lewis drew inspiration from Farmer's legacy and aimed for a sound reminiscent of a blend between The Weeknd and Lana Del Rey, combining emotional songwriting with prominent synthesizer melodies.
Throughout her career, Farmer has sold over 30 million records, establishing a deeply loyal connection with her fanbase while working alongside various prominent electronic producers over the decades without compromising her core pop style.
Égrégore is now available across major music platforms, offering listeners a new chapter in the enduring career of one of France's most distinctive musical figures.
