French Aerospace Sector Sees Growth and Recruitment Initiatives
Italian supplier ALA Group expands near Toulouse while a regional forum promotes career opportunities in Isère.
The French aerospace and defense industry is experiencing a period of significant expansion, marked by both corporate infrastructure investments and focused efforts to attract new talent to the sector. In the Toulouse region, the Italian-based supply chain specialist ALA Group is currently constructing a new headquarters in Beauzelle. This facility, which is scheduled to be fully operational by 2027, represents a major step in the company's growth strategy within the French market.
ALA Group, which provides essential components to major industry players such as Airbus, Safran, and Liebherr, has seen its French branch revenue surge from 11 million euros in 2021 to a projected 70 million euros by 2026. General Manager Stéphane Edler noted the company's strong growth trajectory, with the firm aiming to reach 100 million euros in revenue within the next two years. This financial success has directly translated into job creation, with the local workforce growing from approximately 30 employees in 2023 to 80 by the end of this year.
The new Beauzelle site is designed to accommodate this rapid scaling. According to Christian de Santis, Chief Commercial Officer for ALA Group, the location was selected for its proximity to employees and its capacity to serve as a central hub for the company's French operations. The 2,000-square-meter facility will feature expanded office and warehouse space, reflecting the company's commitment to maintaining a strong presence in what de Santis described as a strategic market for the group.
Beyond corporate investment, the industry is also prioritizing workforce development through public engagement. The Horizon Aerospace forum is set to take place on November 6 and 7 at the Le Versoud airfield in Isère. Organized by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Aerospace and Space Academy alongside regional partners, the event aims to connect students, job seekers, and career changers with industry professionals.
The forum features a dedicated job dating event on the afternoon of November 6, providing a direct platform for recruitment. Organizers emphasize that the industry is seeking a wide range of profiles, including technicians, production operators, and specialists in electronics and mechanical assembly, rather than focusing solely on engineering roles. The event is designed to demystify the sector and highlight the diverse career paths available within aerospace and space technology.
To inspire the next generation, the Saturday session will focus on the general public, offering immersive animations, conferences, and a mobile planetarium. The event is sponsored by French astronaut Michel Tognini, who intends to showcase the accessibility of aerospace careers. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to view innovative projects, such as electric helium-powered airships and high-altitude wind energy technologies, further illustrating the breadth of modern aerospace research and development.
