Former NBA Guard John Konchar Signs With Olympiacos
The veteran player heads overseas to continue his professional basketball career in Greece after seven seasons in the NBA.
Former NBA guard John Konchar is continuing his professional career overseas by signing a deal with Olympiacos B.C. in Greece, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Konchar initially hoped to secure a spot with the defending NBA champions following a training camp deal, but he stepped away from the team due to a personal matter.
With no other suitable situations available in the NBA, Konchar decided to make the move to Europe. The Chicago-born guard attended Purdue Fort Wayne for his college basketball career before entering the NBA undrafted in 2019, where he was subsequently picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies.
During his seven-year career in Memphis, Konchar appeared in 337 games, making 58 starts, and averaged 4.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.9 minutes per contest. He shot 47.2% from the field during his tenure with the Grizzlies before being traded to the Utah Jazz at the 2026 NBA trade deadline.
In his stint with the Utah Jazz, Konchar played 26 games with seven starts, averaging 26.2 minutes, 5.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Across his entire NBA career, he logged 363 total appearances.
While a future return to the NBA has not been ruled out, Konchar will now focus on showcasing his skills and securing substantial playing time in the EuroLeague with Olympiacos. The move marks a fresh chapter for the veteran guard as he transitions to international competition.
