Borussia Dortmund extended their strong run in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory over SV Elversberg at the Signal Iduna Park. Playing without injured top scorer Serhou Guirassy, who was sidelined due to a thigh strain, Dortmund relied on midfielder Felix Nmecha to deliver the decisive goals and maintain their undefeated start to the league season.

Nmecha broke the deadlock in the 55th minute by latching onto a pass from Fabio Silva at the edge of the penalty area and sliding a low shot into the corner. Just 15 minutes later, the midfielder added a second with a powerful 22-meter strike clocked at 124 kilometers per hour, capping off a standout performance that included a game-high 24 duels and six shot attempts.

Elversberg, making a historic appearance at Dortmund's iconic stadium, refused to go down quietly. Despite playing in Germany's fourth tier as recently as 2022, the club brought a remarkable 8,000 traveling supporters to the match—surpassing the population of their hometown. Noel Futkeu gave the visitors hope in the 81st minute with a goal, but Dortmund managed to run down the clock and secure the three points.

Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac praised Nmecha's impact following the match, stating, "With his presence, with his dynamics, Felix makes his teammates better. He is immensely important for us." Sporting Director Ole Book echoed the sentiment, describing the midfielder as one of the best in the world, while national team coach Julian Nagelsmann previously lauded his physical strength and technical talent.

The victory keeps Borussia Dortmund undefeated after nine matchdays, marking the club's best Bundesliga start in 13 years. Kovac expressed satisfaction with his team's energy despite a grueling schedule that has featured nine competitive fixtures in four and a half weeks, noting that his squad is currently operating at its absolute limit.

For Nmecha, the multi-goal performance arrives at an opportune moment as he prepares to join up with the German national team. Having overcome a series of early-season fitness hurdles, the midfielder heads into international duty carrying significant momentum after reasserting himself as a vital playmaker for both club and country.
