FC Metz missed out on its first away victory of the Ligue 2 season on Friday, playing to a 1-1 draw against USL Dunkerque during the tenth matchday at Stade Marcel-Tribut. Despite taking an early lead, a costly individual error late in the second half left the visiting side with only a single point.

The match began favorably for the visitors, managed by Grégory Proment. In the ninth minute, top goalscorer Pape Moussa Fall received a cross from Mbodj, controlled the ball with his back to goal, and executed a sharp turn to score the opening goal for Metz.

Throughout the remainder of the first half, Metz dominated the tempo and threatened to extend its lead. Dunkerque failed to register a single shot on target during the opening forty-five minutes, while the visiting attack tested the home team's goalkeeper multiple times through Giorgi Abuashvili.

The dynamic continued into the second half when Dunkerque was reduced to ten players. Around the hour mark, Jordan Morel received his second yellow card of the match following a foul on Fall, resulting in his expulsion in the 61st minute.

However, recurring defensive vulnerabilities once again hurt Metz's prospects. Prutsev pressured Bouna Sarr inside the penalty box, forcing a foul that resulted in a penalty kick for the home side. Although initial goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer blocked the first attempt, Dunkerque captain Sangante capitalized on the rebound to equalize in the 65th minute.

Metz attempted to regain the lead in the closing stages of the game, launching several offensive attacks. Late efforts from Florian Miguel, Abdoulaye Agne Ba, and Pape Moussa Fall all failed to find the back of the net as the defense held firm.

With the final whistle, the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate. The result leaves FC Metz stationed in the middle of the standings in eighth place, while USL Dunkerque successfully secured a resilient point despite playing a man down for more than thirty minutes.
