FC Lausanne-Sport announced on Tuesday that head coach Luka Elsner has left the club after a difficult start to the Swiss Super League campaign. Appointed on June 1, the 44-year-old tactician spent just five months in charge of the struggling team before mutual discussions led to his departure.

During his tenure, Elsner managed the first team through 12 league fixtures and two rounds of the Swiss Cup, enduring eight losses in domestic play. A dismal start to the season left the outfit rooted to the bottom of the league table, prompting all parties to conclude that a change was necessary.

In an official statement released by the club, Lausanne-Sport acknowledged the professionalism and dedication Elsner displayed throughout his time in Switzerland. The club noted that his methodological approach and high standards contributed positively to the development of the coaching staff.

"After extensive discussions regarding the current sporting situation, FC Lausanne-Sport and Luka Elsner have mutually agreed to end their collaboration," the club stated in their release. They emphasized that professional football demands crucial results, making the departure the best decision for the club's immediate trajectory.

The managerial dismissal occurs as INEOS, the chemical group led by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, implements changes across its sporting portfolio. Ratcliffe recently placed both Lausanne and French club Nice up for sale in an effort to streamline operations and concentrate primary attention elsewhere.

While the Swiss club navigates its coaching search following Elsner's exit, INEOS faces parallel pressures regarding leadership at Old Trafford. Manchester United manager Michael Carrick remains under close scrutiny due to domestic inconsistency, though a recent comeback victory in the Champions League against Roma has provided temporary relief for the English side.
