A tragic road accident in Jalandhar at 3 a.m. on Sunday claimed the lives of 18-year-old Divit Auluck, nephew of Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, and his 19-year-old friend Aarav Talwar. The two young men were returning home from a party in a Volkswagen Jetta alongside three other occupants when the vehicle crashed into a parked municipal corporation garbage trolley near the police lines flyover.

The victims died on the spot from the severe impact, which left the car heavily mangled. According to police reports, the vehicle was traveling at a high speed when it rammed into the civic body vehicle. Authorities are currently investigating whether the garbage trolley was parked irresponsibly or equipped with proper reflectors.

The other three occupants inside the car at the time of the crash were identified as Raghav Punchi, Pushkar Sharda—son of ward number 78 councillor Deepak Sharda—and Kavya. While initial reports suggested the youths might have been racing other vehicles, Baradari station house officer Sahil Chowdhary stated that police have received no formal reports of racing duels and noted that the car had previously stopped at a traffic light.

The tragic event also brought attention to modern safety technology when Divit Auluck’s iPhone reportedly utilized its built-in Crash Detection feature to alert his mother following the severe impact. The notification helped the family learn of the emergency shortly after the collision occurred.

None of the families have pressed formal charges regarding the incident. Aarav Talwar was cremated on Sunday, while Divit Auluck's cremation was scheduled to take place upon his brother's return from Canada.

The music and entertainment community offered an outpouring of condolences to the grieving families. Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh shared a somber message on social media expressing profound grief, while notable Punjabi artists, including singer Gippy Grewal and actors Beenu Dhillon and Shehnaz Gill, visited the family residence in Jalandhar.

Reflecting on the heavy loss, actor Beenu Dhillon shared his sympathies, stating that it is a profoundly difficult burden for a family to bear the loss of a young child. Dinesh Auluck is widely recognized as the managing director of Speed Records and a prominent figure who has significantly shaped the global reach of the Punjabi music industry.
