English Street Artist Hélène Bur Paints Monumental Mural in Bordeaux

British street artist Hélène Bur is currently painting a massive, 35-meter-tall mural on the side of a residential building in the Grand-Parc neighborhood of Bordeaux, France. Measuring 300 square meters, the monumental artwork addresses the theme of single parenthood.

Perched on a mechanical platform with a brush in hand, Bur works on the dizzying facade as part of a collaborative project led by the Exit association. Established in 2014, the organization aims to promote urban art in various forms and help communities reclaim public spaces.

Luca Trimaldi, president of the Exit association, highlighted the group's ongoing mission to reintegrate art into everyday surroundings. The association originally established its roots in the Bastide neighborhood, where it organized its first local murals before expanding its community-focused projects to other areas.

The project relies heavily on collaboration with local residents, blending contemporary public art with social themes that resonate directly within the neighborhood. By bringing large-scale artistic creations to residential facades, the association seeks to foster dialogue and community engagement through visual storytelling.

Street art projects of this scale require meticulous planning, specialized equipment, and favorable weather conditions to ensure the safety of the artist and the durability of the installation. Bur's work stands out not only for its striking visual height but also for its poignant subject matter focusing on modern family structures.

As the mural nears completion, it is expected to become a prominent landmark within the Grand-Parc district. The Exit association plans to continue its urban art initiatives across the region, utilizing creative expression as a tool for social connection and neighborhood revitalization.
