Emanuel Wilson sees zero snaps in Seahawks' 34-17 loss to Bears

After holding down the backfield during injuries, running back Emanuel Wilson was entirely omitted from Seattle's game plan on Monday night.

Running back Emanuel Wilson did not record a single opportunity during the Seattle Seahawks' 34-17 defeat against the Chicago Bears on Monday night at Lumen Field. The complete absence from the offensive rotation came as a surprise to fantasy football managers and observers who expected him to maintain some level of involvement following his strong performances while filling in for injured teammates.

Ahead of the Week 8 matchup, the Seahawks' backfield faced a significant shake-up with the returns of running backs Zach Charbonnet and rookie Jadarian Price. Charbonnet was primed for his 2026 season debut after recovering from a torn ACL sustained in January during Seattle's NFC divisional round playoff victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, Price was activated from injured reserve on Monday after missing four games due to a chest injury.

Prior to his injury, Price had accumulated 119 rushing yards on 28 carries along with four receptions for 21 yards across his first three professional games, though ball-security issues had previously limited his playing time. Wilson had stepped into the primary running back role while Price was sidelined, performing effectively and leading the team with 403 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, and 111 carries heading into Monday's contest.

Analysts had debated how head coach Mike Macdonald would manage the crowded backfield leading up to the game. While some projections anticipated that Wilson might see early work as the team eased Charbonnet and Price back from their respective lengthy absences, the coaching staff ultimately headed in a completely different direction.

Coach Macdonald noted ahead of the weekend that the team had established a specific strategy regarding the returning players. "We have a plan for Zach and with JD," Macdonald stated on Saturday regarding the running back rotation.

To accommodate the roster moves required for the game, Seattle officially activated Price from injured reserve on Monday and waived running back Robert Henry Jr. The team also elevated wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. and offensive tackle Bobby Hart from the practice squad to bolster the lineup against a formidable Chicago defense led by quarterback Caleb Williams.

Despite the previous expectations that a three-man committee might form to share the workload, the coaching staff wrote Wilson out of the game plan entirely. Moving forward, analysts suggest that Wilson's lack of involvement on Monday night indicates he may no longer hold a secure spot in the weekly offensive rotation for Seattle.
