The Dallas Stars seek to break a two-game skid as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets to wrap up their six-game homestand.

The Dallas Stars will wrap up a six-game homestand on October 31 by hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dallas enters the matchup looking to recover from consecutive losses following a five-game winning streak.

During the recent homestand, the Stars suffered a 5-1 defeat against the New Jersey Devils on October 27 and a 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on October 29. Reflecting on the team's recent struggles, Dallas coach Glen Gulutzan stated, "Our puck play is atrocious right now."

Despite the back-to-back setbacks, the Stars have demonstrated resilience earlier in the season. After dropping their first two games, they responded with consecutive shutouts against the San Jose Sharks and Buffalo Sabres, and later followed a two-game skid with five straight victories.

Addressing the current slump, Gulutzan emphasized the need for hard work and concentration. "You can say maybe you're lacking a little confidence, or you're a little tentative, but the only way to get it is to dig in," Gulutzan said. "You can't hand somebody confidence. You've got to put in the work, and you've got to be focused. We need to bear down."

Dallas is expected to receive roster reinforcements ahead of the game. Defenseman Esa Lindell participated in practice Friday after missing five games due to a lower-body injury, while forwards Radek Faksa and David Perron are also nearing a return. Coach Gulutzan indicated that at least one, and potentially two, of those players will take the ice against Columbus. To clear a roster spot, the Stars reassigned forward Matthew Seminoff to their AHL affiliate in Texas on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Columbus Blue Jackets arrive in Dallas following a 3-2 defeat against the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, North Carolina. That loss ended a brief two-game winning streak that featured consecutive overtime victories for Columbus. Against Carolina, the Blue Jackets fell behind 3-0 before mounting a third-period push that fell short.

Columbus coach Rick Bowness noted that his team showed strong character in the final two periods against Carolina despite the unfavorable outcome. "I know we lost, but our best hockey is going to be ahead of us if we play like that for 60 minutes like we played the last two [periods]," Bowness said. "There's not a team or a building we can't go into and win."

Individually, Columbus forward Kent Johnson has opened the season strongly, scoring his team-leading seventh goal on Thursday to match his output from 76 games last season. Defenseman Zach Werenski has contributed nine assists through his first 11 games while seeking his first goal of the campaign.
