Head coach Brian Schottenheimer and the Cowboys offense bounced back with a strong performance on Monday night.

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night, breaking a two-game losing streak and improving their record to 3-4. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes in what the team approached as a critical matchup to keep their NFC East playoff hopes alive.

Despite the victory, head coach Brian Schottenheimer kept his postgame press conference notably brief, lasting only about four minutes compared to his usual 10 to 15 minutes. Schottenheimer faced mounting scrutiny throughout the week following media criticism regarding his play-calling and past comments, alongside questions about his job security after a 7-9-1 season last year and a 2-4 start to 2026.

Quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledged that his head coach appeared visibly motivated and frustrated by the external noise. \u001aDefinitely hungry, pissed off version of Schottenheimer,\u001a Prescott said. \u001aIt\'s not like he\'s naive. It\'s not like he hadn\'t heard some noise about him and whether it\'s the call in the games or whatever doubt that\'s been out there, but we\'ve got his back.\u001a

The Dallas offense found significant success on the ground, totaling 204 rushing yards. Running back Javonte Williams led the charge with a career-high 155 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown, averaging 6.2 yards per carry behind an improved offensive line performance.

Through the air, Prescott connected effectively with his receivers. George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and Ryan Flournoy all surpassed 50 receiving yards. Lamb caught two touchdown passes, while Pickens added another score to help Dallas secure nine more points than they had scored in their previous two games combined.

While the offense flourished, analysts noted questionable coaching decisions and uninspiring defense. Philadelphia played much of the contest with a heavily depleted roster and backup quarterback Tanner McKee, and lost running back Saquon Barkley to an early injury. Critics pointed to conservative play-calling by Schottenheimer, such as opting for a fullback run on a late third-and-8, as areas of concern despite the final margin.

The Cowboys will look to build upon their momentum as they prepare to face the Arizona Cardinals on the road in a short turnaround. Schottenheimer emphasized that the team is focused on maintaining execution as they aim to climb further into the NFC playoff picture.
