Comedian Druski to Make History as First Online Creator to Host 'Saturday Night Live'
The internet personality and comedian will host the NBC sketch show on November 7 alongside musical guests The Strokes.
Comedian and internet personality Druski is set to make television history by becoming the first online content creator to host "Saturday Night Live." Born Drew Desbordes, Druski will take the stage for his debut on the November 7 episode of the long-running NBC sketch comedy show, broadcasting live from the Comcast Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan.
During his upcoming appearance, Druski will also promote his new comedy series, "Collect and Praise," which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix this December. He will be joined by indie rock band The Strokes, who will be making their fifth appearance as musical guests on the program while currently on tour supporting their latest album, "Reality Awaits."
The announcement of Druski's hosting gig is part of a newly revealed trio of hosts for the ongoing 52nd season of "Saturday Night Live." The network announced that "Obsession" star Inde Navarrette will host the Halloween episode on October 31 with musical guest Gracie Abrams. Meanwhile, veteran comedian John Mulaney will return to host for the seventh time on November 14, featuring performances by musical guest Phoebe Bridgers.
Season 52 of the late-night institution has already featured a lineup of hosts that includes Jalen Brunson, Dakota Johnson, and Shane Gillis, as well as surprise appearances like Taylor Swift stepping in during Johnson's monologue. The current season has also experienced its share of viral controversy, notably when Gillis delivered an opening monologue that sparked widespread backlash for misogynistic remarks.
The sketch series recently welcomed two new cast members in September: stand-up comedian and actor Grace Reiter, who built a substantial following on TikTok and YouTube before starring in HBO's "The Chair Company," and Brooklyn-based Nigerian American filmmaker and comedian Saidah Belo-Osagie. Apart from Chloe Fineman, Bowen Yang, and Martin Herlihy, the rest of the Season 51 cast returned for the current run.
"Saturday Night Live" continues to air live at 11:30 p.m. ET and 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC, with simultaneous streaming available on Peacock, where past seasons can also be viewed. The show is produced in association with Broadway Video, with Lorne Michaels serving as creator and executive producer.
