Colo Colo captured its 35th Chilean league title on Sunday after defeating Ñublense 2-1 away from home, courtesy of a dramatic late goal by Marcos Bolados in the 93rd minute. The victory allowed the team from Santiago to claim the championship with three matches left in the season, reaching 61 points and establishing an unassailable 10-point lead over second-place Universidad de Chile.

The crucial match in Chillán began with high intensity as veteran star Arturo Vidal put the visitors ahead in the 14th minute. Connecting with a corner kick, Vidal fired a powerful volley past Ñublense goalkeeper Nicola Pérez, fulfilling a promise he made a day earlier to score. However, Ñublense equalized before the half-hour mark when Lucas Molina capitalized on defensive laxity following a throw-in to beat goalkeeper Vozinha.

As the game wore on, Colo Colo pressed for a winner while monitoring news that Universidad de Chile was leading its match against Cobresal. With time running out in the 93rd minute, a cross into the penalty area from Argentine forward Javier Correa was kept alive, allowing Bolados to slide the ball into the net while pursued by two defenders and secure the trophy.

The triumph marked the first managerial title for Argentine coach Fernando Ortiz. It also brought silverware to Cape Verdean goalkeeper Josimar Jose Evora Dias, widely known as Vozinha, who joined the club earlier this year following his sudden international fame at the World Cup.

Vozinha arrived in Chile in July after becoming a global sensation by helping Cape Verde reach the last 32 of the World Cup, where they held Spain to a scoreless draw. That performance transformed the veteran player from an obscure journeyman into an internet celebrity with tens of millions of Instagram followers, a shift that he admitted has been difficult to manage due to the loss of his privacy and peace.

Despite his off-field celebrity status and lucrative endorsement deals with global brands like Adidas, Pepsi, and Red Bull, Vozinha has faced a challenging adjustment on the pitch in South America. Having appeared in only a handful of matches, his future with Colo Colo remains uncertain as media speculate whether he will remain with the club beyond his initial six-month contract, which depends partly on playing time.

With the domestic league title now secured and a direct spot in next year's Copa Libertadores guaranteed, Colo Colo turns its attention to the final stretch of the season and the Copa Chile, where the squad is already qualified for the semifinals.
