Charli XCX Reportedly Cast in Upcoming Martin Scorsese Film

Pop star Charli XCX is reportedly set to make a cameo appearance in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film, "What Happens at Night." The project, which features a lead cast including Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, is a gothic psychological drama currently in development.

The film is based on the novel by Peter Cameron and follows an American married couple who travel to a small European town for an adoption. As the couple navigates the complications of their journey, they are forced to confront deep-seated questions regarding their relationship and personal identities. The production also includes actors Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris.

While reports from industry outlets suggest Charli XCX has secured a role, representatives for the singer, Apple, and StudioCanal have not yet publicly confirmed the casting. If confirmed, the role would mark another step in the artist's expanding career in cinema, following her recent work in mockumentaries and her focus on the intersection of music and film.

The singer recently gained significant cultural attention with her 2024 album, "Brat." Her interest in the cinematic arts is further reflected in her latest project, "Music, Fashion, Film," which features promotional artwork including director Martin Scorsese alongside musician John Cale and fashion designer Marc Jacobs.

This new film serves as a reunion for director Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, who previously collaborated on the 2023 historical drama "Killers of the Flower Moon." That project received widespread critical acclaim and earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including a nod for Best Picture.

As of now, no official release date has been announced for "What Happens at Night." The production is being handled by Apple and StudioCanal, and it remains one of the most anticipated upcoming projects for the veteran filmmaker.
