Cardi B Reveals Name of Fourth Child and Vows to Avoid Raising Kids in New York
The Grammy Award-winning rapper announced her baby boy's name while reflecting on youth bullying and a tragic teen murder in the Bronx.
Grammy Award-winning artist Cardi B recently shared personal milestones and strong opinions regarding her hometown, revealing both the name of her youngest child and her decision to not raise her children in New York City. The rapper announced that her one-year-old son, whom she shares with New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, is named Grey Marsean Diggs. She posted photos and a heartfelt message on social media to celebrate his first birthday, noting that carrying him provided her with extra strength during an uncertain period.
The baby's name carries special meaning for the artist, who explained that he gave new meaning to what a gray day feels like. To celebrate the occasion, Cardi B sported an icy silver look from head to toe, including a silver wig, a heather gray tank top, and custom diamond jewelry by jeweler Elliot Eliantte. Her accessories featured stacked diamond bracelets customized with her children's names, a matching "Grey" collar necklace, and pear-shaped diamond rings, echoing a past tradition of revealing baby names through custom bling.
Cardi B shares three other children—Kulture, 8, Wave, 5, and Blossom, 2—with her ex-husband, Offset. Following the public announcement of her youngest son's name and birth date, the mother of four stepped out with Stefon Diggs in New York City for the launch party of baby brand Cybex's flagship store, wearing a dramatic all-black ensemble.
Amid these family announcements, the Bronx native also addressed a tragedy in her hometown that cemented her decision to keep her children away from the area. Speaking on social media, she reacted to the murder of Javitz Frimpong, a 15-year-old Ghanaian immigrant who was shot and killed on October 29 while traveling to school in the Bronx. According to reports, the high school student had been targeted by bullies in his neighborhood.
Cardi B attributed the teenager's tragic death to a rampant bullying culture among youth in New York City. Drawing from her own youth and past experiences with bullying that led her to join the Bloods gang, she argued that the hostility begins as early as the first grade. She also rejected the notion that the issue is solely driven by Black Americans, asserting that new immigrants from foreign countries like Africa and the Dominican Republic frequently face mistreatment from peers, even those from their own cultural backgrounds.
Because of these experiences and the ongoing safety concerns, Cardi B stated that Frimpong's death heavily influenced her personal resolution to never raise a child in neighborhoods like the Bronx, Harlem, or Washington Heights, nor in New York public schools. Advising others to seek out communities with higher qualities of life in neighboring states, the rapper emphasized that she intends to keep her family away from the neighborhood environment in New York.
