The Milwaukee Bucks and the Washington Wizards open their regular seasons on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., kicking off a campaign defined by significant roster overhauls for both franchises. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, with the game broadcast on various local and team networks.

For the Milwaukee Bucks, Wednesday's matchup carries historic weight as the franchise begins regular-season play without Giannis Antetokounmpo on the roster for the first time since the 2012-13 season. Following a trade that sent their longtime superstar out of town, the Bucks are entering a rebuilding phase under new head coach Taylor Jenkins, adding several players from Miami, including former All-Star Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kel’el Ware.

The Washington Wizards enter the new campaign looking to demonstrate that their own multi-year rebuild is yielding results under head coach Brian Keefe. Washington has paired veterans Anthony Davis and Trae Young with a young supporting cast, aiming to secure a playoff push after finishing the previous season with a 17-65 record. However, the Wizards will be without No. 1 overall draft pick AJ Dybantsa, who is sidelined for the season opener due to a left ankle sprain.

Both teams enter the contest with questions surrounding their health and depth. For Milwaukee, forward Nate Ament is listed as probable with a left ankle sprain. Meanwhile, the Wizards' injury report includes Tristan Vukcevic out with a left hip impingement and Jamir Watkins recovering from left ACL surgery, in addition to Dybantsa's absence.

Statistically, the matchup features two teams looking to shore up defensive shortcomings after both finished in the bottom 10 of the NBA in opponent points per game last season. Historically, the Bucks hold a 136-99 all-time regular-season record against the Wizards, though Washington won three out of four meetings during the previous season, taking the season series for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign.

Both franchises have undergone substantial changes to reshape their competitive futures. While Milwaukee moves past the departure of a generational centerpiece to lean into youth and new acquisitions, Washington attempts to combine veteran star power with developing pieces to climb out of the Eastern Conference standings.

Betting lines from major sportsbooks have installed the Wizards as 4.5-point home favorites, with the over/under point total set at 238.5. As both teams debut new lineups on the floor, the opening night fixture serves as an early indicator of how quickly the revised rosters can gel.
