Box Office Showdown Sees Ranabaali Face Fierce Competition on Dasara
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's period drama secured steady holiday collections amid a crowded theatrical clash.
The period drama Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, navigated a competitive box office landscape during the final day of the Dasara holiday season on October 21. Facing off against several major releases, the film worked to sustain its audience turnout in theaters.
During the final stretch of the mainstream holiday period, Ranabaali maintained a consistent pace of ticket sales, averaging roughly 7,000 tickets per hour and continuing to draw about 100,000 daily ticket transactions on BookMyShow. The film experienced a notable recovery on its fifth day, pulling in a domestic collection of 6.75 crore, which marked a significant improvement compared to previous days.
Despite receiving weak reviews upon its initial release, the feature managed to hold its ground reasonably well. Industry analysts noted that without strong competition from a major blockbuster and mixed critical reception, the film might have achieved even higher commercial success.
The primary box office powerhouse during the holiday window proved to be the Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2. Dominating the festive period, the Rajinikanth film commanded ticket sales of approximately 30,000 per hour on the final holiday. On its sixth day, the film grossed over 46 crore at the domestic box office, generating revenue figures that outperformed regional market expectations.
The intense theatrical lineup on Vijayadashami featured a broader multi-film clash across cinemas. Ajay Devgn's suspense thriller Drishyam 3 marked its 19th day in theaters by doubling its previous earnings, bringing in over 6.25 crore during the holiday. Meanwhile, Yami Gautam's horror-comedy Nayyi Navelli achieved a collection exceeding 4.35 crore on its fifth day.
Additional titles contributing to the festive box office battle included Rajkummar Rao's courtroom drama Prahaar, which brought in 3.30 crore on Tuesday, and the long-running film Hanuman Ansh, which added 62 lakh to its totals on its 75th day in release.
With the Dasara holiday season now concluded, theater owners and studios will evaluate the long-term theatrical legs of Ranabaali and its competitors as they transition into the standard weekday exhibition schedule.
