Boca Juniors secured a 1-0 victory over River Plate at La Bombonera, ensuring its qualification for the 2027 Copa Libertadores through its position in the annual standings. The win also placed the team second in Zone A of the Clausura tournament and returned it to the top of the accumulated table.

Lautaro Di Lollo scored the game's only goal with a header. River Plate played much of the match with fewer players after Lucas Martínez Quarta received a red card early in the first half, followed by a late expulsion of Gonzalo Montiel. The defeat leaves River Plate in fourth place in Zone B, securing a provisional spot in the playoffs, while sitting eighth in the accumulated table for a potential Copa Sudamericana berth.

Led on the field by Leandro Paredes, Boca Juniors controlled the rhythm of the match. "We played a much smarter game than River. One dreams of this type of triumphs, I told my teammates that we were going to live something unique. We won an important match, but we have not achieved anything yet, we are one step away," Paredes said after the final whistle.

The victory extended Boca Juniors' winning streak in Superclésicos to three consecutive matches, a feat the club had not accomplished since 1991. Manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena praised his team's character while emphasizing that more work remains. "We can play better or worse, but we will always look. The first red card helped us to have the ball more, but after the 2-0 we lacked finishing it. When you smell blood, you have to kill the rival," Arruabarrena stated.

In the annual standings, Boca Juniors leads with 60 points, holding a one-point advantage over Rosario Central and three points over Argentinos Juniors, with upcoming matches remaining to finalize the tournament. Belgrano has already secured its Copa Libertadores spot by winning the Apertura, with additional spots determined by the annual table and remaining cup finals.

Off the field, the match sparked controversy following critical remarks on social media from former River Plate president Rodolfo D'Onofrio regarding the officiating. Mauricio Serna responded to those comments during an interview with radio Splendid, stating, "He who does them, imagines them."

The round of matches also featured decisive results across the league, confirming relegation for Estudiantes de Río Cuarto and Aldosivi to the Primera Nacional following losses to River Plate and Racing, respectively, as the domestic season approaches its final stretch.
